PHOBIAS.

I think I've touched on this in a previous blog, but I've been thinking about it so much I wanted to touch on it again. Phobias. Where do they originate? How do we form these fears? Do past experiences play a role? Once you've identified the phobia how do you go about correcting it? Is it possible to live a phobia free life? I for example want to get over some of my phobias, but I feel like I can't think about them long enough to even get that far. I haven't heard much about people overcoming phobias, but I did hear about a thing LSU did awhile back. They were trying to get people with phobias so that they could study them. I think that'd be interesting. There's probably a lot more to phobias than we think. Phobias can range from mild to extreme, but why is that?

I usually put pictures and would put a picture of my phobias, but I don't want to google that. Ha.

  1. YES! I LOVE this idea! I always wonder myself why I am afraid of this or that? Sometimes I even confront myself and tell myself that I am acting ridiculous but the next day I will once again be freakin out! I think it would definitely be cool to see how extreme phobias compare to that of mild ones.

  2. I'm curious about this too. What bothers me/ interests me about phobias is that they are often unreasonable... I've seen psychologists try to rid people of their phobias on Oprah by using hypnosis to help them figure out the repressed memories that are causing them to feel fearful towards those things.

  3. I think that these questions could formulate into a cool thesis! There is probably a way to categorize these phobias. You would probably have to research that!

P.S.There is a really creepy episode of Criminal Minds about phobias! You should watch it!

  4. Oh I want to see that Tarini!
But yeah adding to this, I read that more people are afraid of spiders than death. Why is that?

  5. I think it would be cool to research phobias. It's a really interesting topic that could take you in an any number of directions, and I feel like that is a good thing for a thesis idea.
