Recently I've become entranced with "weird facts". One of the weird facts I read said that our brains have the capacity to retain everything we see, heard, smell, feel, etc. but the problem lies in recalling that information. I'm interested in why that is so, because another fact said we recall some information quicker and easier than others. So with a little help from google, I came across some articles referring to the memory. I find the brain to be such a complex and amazing organ of the body. What if we could recall everything we heard or saw? I guess that happens for some people with photographic memories. Which brings up another interesting thing--photographic memories. Are people just born that way? Can we train our brain to be photographic? That would come in handy, especially in high school. Studying the brain would be pretty cool, because like I said it's so complex! Memory also coordinates with the disease, Alzheimer's. That's another thing I could look into.
This article suggests recalling memories comes from reliving the experience through the imagination.
